Journal Entry #2-Starting with the basics

   
Article #1-This article is about a Toronto Blue jays player Jose Bautista. It tells us about his possible last home game as a blue jay, and his former accomplishments as well. The game took place on the night of September. 24, 2017. The game took place in Toronto at the Rogers Center. This might be his last game because of his age and the amount of money he wants to come back, he is not exactly worth what he wants anymore, and it is expected the team and him will not be able to come to a mutual agreement. The fans sent him off with a standing ovation. The lead was effective, it told his game stats and drew in the attention of the reader to continue reading. It also pulled at fans hearts when it says it may have been his final home game in a blue jays uniform. After the game during an interview Bautista said, "It's good to be recognized and it's good to feel the love. I appreciate everything that happened today." The most important and interesting news was told first, they told about how he played in the game, and then said why this game was so important. Also, they listed all his accomplishments, so that people who do not really know him would understand why he was being interviewed. The article ends with other information from the game, about other people. It is not a very exciting ending, but it is the least important information to this story, so it makes sense that it is the ending. I didn't like the ending because it wasn't about Jose.

Article #2- This article is about the Golden State Warriors basketball team, and Donald Trump. The Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship this year, which means they are supposed to get to visit the White house, it looks like that wont happen though! This happened on the morning of September. 23, 2017. It didn't really take place at any spot, but more over the internet, especially on Twitter. Some of the Warriors star players were hesitant to go to the white house, they do not support the things Trump does, so they didn't really want to go. When Trump found out about this he posted on Twitter saying that the "invitation is withdrawn!" The lead is extremely effective, as they are drawing in a lot of interest from sports fans as well as Donald Trump fans. Everyone who reads the first sentence will want to keep reading to see why the Golden State Warriors are not doing the annual championship visit to the White House, and to see why Trump uninvited them! Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers spoke up on the topic saying this about Trump, "He's now using sports as the platform to try to divide us, we all know how much sports brings us together. ... It's not something I can be quiet about." The most important information was told first, we learnt what is going on. The first of the article told us about the team not going to the white house, which is a tradition that happens every year. It also told us about Trump no longer wanting them to come to the white house. All the important or interesting information was near the beginning, the ending had facts, but it was information people would not care about as much. The story does have a good ending, because it is still interesting and relating to the story, it is just a bit less interesting than the earlier information. They ended the article with a video which I thought was a strong way to end it and keep viewers reading until the ending!

Journal Entry #6- If You Cant't Do The Time, Don't Do The Crime

I usually do not think very much about if what I am reading is true or not. The only time I think an article may not be true, or at least partly false is when it is to fake to believe. Now that I am thinking about it though, I am really curious about how many articles I read may contain fake facts. Journalists probably lie all the time to get a story finished on time, or to make a story more interesting. After all, a journalist will do anything to get an extra view or two. In my opinion I believe that I can trust any big name websites to be telling real news. I trust CTV, Vice and Sports Illustrated to name a few. After reading these articles I am very surprised. I believe that the people who wrote these false lies should be punished and never allowed to work in journalism again. In both cases they told obscured lies to make a huge story out of something that shouldn't have been a big deal. Journal Entry #8- Facing Fake News

The photograph posted along with the Fukashima Nuclear Disaster article leads to many questions. One thought that I automatically had when I saw the picture was " Where is the proof that this picture was actually taken in Fukashima, near the power plants ground?" There is absolutely no actual proof to show that this picture was taken there. The closest thing to proof is that the article says this picture is taken there. Articles have risen and are questioning whether this photo was taken where it was said to be, and whether it was the radiation that even caused these mutations. Some scientists have said that the radiation levels are barely above normal levels where this photo was believed to be taken, and that it is believed to be safe for living things to stay in that area. Also, others have said that they've seen these mutations in flowers without any radiation needing to be present, so it might not even be caused by the nuclear disaster that took place. For me to act
